Chloe JohnsonChloe Johnson, a sophomore computer science major in Prairie View A&M University’s College of Engineering, won first place in the IBM HBCU Hackathon in Raleigh, North Carolina. She signed up to compete on behalf of PVAMU’s COE, and her team finished first out of 17 teams at the event on November 27. Johnson’s group came up with a smart home device for home appliances using IBM’s Watson system. They provided suggestions on how users could use less water in their homes along with the amount of money they could save. IBM will be able to sell the data to companies to use for advertising.
