INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERS (IEEE)

IEEE is a global organization which promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing and applying knowledge about electro and information technologies and sciences for the benefit of humanity and the profession. Members rely on IEEE as a source of technical and professional information, resources and services. IEEE has over 365,000 members, including 68,000 students, in over 150 countries. It is the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology.   The organizations purposes are expressed in our local chapter mission:  Disseminate the knowledge of the theory and practice of electrical engineering and further the professional development of electrical engineering students.

The Prairie View A&M IEEE chapter keeps engineers up-to-date with emerging technologies, industries and tools by sponsoring workshops, seminars, faculty forums and providing an environment where networking between engineers and industry takes place. Members attend the annual regional conference, participate in design contests, and submit technical papers. IEEE helps students to get exposure to many companies by inviting guest speakers from industry, participating in networking socials sponsored by corporations and through field trips that the group puts together. Our local chapter also has events that take place within the group such as forums in which faculty and students discuss the profession of engineering, research and graduate school opportunities.
The organization has general meetings bi-monthly.  Come join us to see how IEEE can make a difference in your career. To join IEEE or find out more information on upcoming meetings and events, please contact the advisor at phobiomon@pvamu.edu.  To become a national member register online at http://www.ieee.org .
