The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Prairie View A&M University, through implementation of its rigorous curriculum and available state-of-the-art facilities, strives to provide high quality training to students towards successful career in the profession. The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BS C.E.) curriculum is designed to educate students academically and socially to be lead professionals of the community where they live, work and make significant contributions to the society. The civil engineering program is accredited by Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202;  phone – (410) 347-7700).  The program integrates class-room teaching with real-life experiences through networking with professionals in the community, site visits, and participation in undergraduate research activities to prepare students for graduate research and successful careers.  Students receive a sound background in basic sciences, engineering sciences and engineering design coupled with studies in the humanities and in the social sciences. Small faculty-to-student ratio allows student receive the personal attention they deserve, along with opportunities to engage in research activities consistent with their individual interests.  The Master of Science in Engineering (MS ENGR.) program with two concentrations in civil engineering and environmental engineering are offered through the Civil & Environmental Engineering department. The course work is geared towards structural engineering and environmental engineering. Each area of concentration in the Master of Science in Engineering degree program has an option of a thesis or non-thesis degree plan.

The course work is geared towards structural engineering and environmental engineering. Classes are taught on the campus and also at The University Center in The Woodlands. This unique program combines engineering with science and management. Specifically, it is designed to enhance students’ technical and management skills, thus making them more competitive in their profession.
