Annually, U.S. Internal Revenue Service-sponsored VITA sites across the country provide free tax and financial planning assistance to millions of taxpayers. VITA sites provide free income tax preparation for low- to moderate-income taxpayers (generally those who make about $60,000 or less) who can use some help filing tax returns.

Nationally, VITA volunteers come from all walks of life and include professionals, retirees, college and high school students, IRS employees and others, all of whom simply want to assist persons in their communities. No special status, skills or experience needed.
