August 19 – It is with sincere gratitude for their service and mixed emotions that we are announcing the retirement of two of our family members. The College of Agriculture and Human Sciences (CAHS) is holding a special ceremony to celebrate our colleagues.  With a total of more than 75 years combined, Mr. Neal Baines and Ms. Elizabeth Bowdre will retire at the end of August 2019.

On behalf of the Faculty, staff, and the entire College of Agriculture and Human Sciences we’d like to publicly acknowledge their service to Prairie View A&M University and CAHS.

They will be honored during a special ceremony at the MSC Grand Ballroom Friday, Aug. 23, 2019. from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

CAHS Dean D’Souza says about Mr. Baines: “he is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about PVAMU, CAHS, civil rights, and a great student of history.  I have encouraged him to write a book about his experiences, to be completed in time for the sesquicentennial celebration of CAHS just 10 short years away.”  Ms. Bowdre, who served as his personal assistant was, according to D’Souza, “a dedicated employee, whose warm smile, institutional knowledge, and calming presence will be greatly missed by one and all.”

Mr. Baines has amassed 45 years of experience, and Ms. Bowdre, 32 years of service; both will forever be remembered for their dedication to the college.  We invite all colleagues to extend their good wishes to Mr. Baines and Ms. Bowdre.

Although we will miss them greatly, we wish them a happy retirement.
