Addressing regional opportunities and strengthening Extension programing, the Southern Region Program Leader Network (SR-PLN), Association of Extension Administrators and Association of Southern Region Extension Directors held a joint meeting in Nashville, TN, this past week from August 22-26. The conference theme was “Creating New Harmonies: Addressing Regional Opportunities.”

The mission of the SR-PLN is to foster and strengthen Extension education programming throughout the southern region by promoting multistate cooperation, anticipating emerging program issues and needs, and implementing action processes to address them in a timely manner.

Participating in the meeting were Carolyn Williams, Associate Administrator (AEA) and Program Leaders, Rukeia Draw-Hood (4-H Committee), Jacquelyn White (FCS Committee), Billy Lawton (ANR Committee), Jimmy Henry (CRD Committee)
Other participants included Maurice Perkins, Media and Publications Coordinator; Ashwani Srivastava, Program Specialist – IT; Gail Long, Assistant Director for Staff Development and Special Projects; Dawn Burton, Health Coordinator; and Lloyd Hebert, Program Specialist.

Draw-Hood served as outgoing secretary and was tentatively elected to the National Program Leader Working Group facilitated by Dr. Lisa Lauxman, Director of the Division of Youth and 4-H at USDA-NIFA. Lawton served as chair of this year’s AGNR Committee and will head the AGNR Planning Committee for next year’s meeting in Ft. Worth, TX. Henry served as the 1890 representative for CED Program Leadership Committee and White serves as the 1890 representative for the FCS Program Leadership Committee.
