Team USA track and field athletes have been on campus for practice ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Before their arrival, College of Agriculture and Human Sciences staff including Dr. Richard W. Griffin, Kelley Redmon and William Anthony partnered with Coaches Angela Williams and Chris Clay to develop a 10 Kilometer (6.2 Mile) running path on the University Farm for the middle distance runners.  The path was coordinated with Drs. Louis Nuti  and the work would not have been completed without the dedicated efforts of Kenneth Garfield, and Gerard Jefferson, all of the CAHS.

The PVAMU men’s and women’s Cross Country teams used parts of the current path during the 2015-2016 season, and plans are being developed to use parts of the course for the 2016-2017 season for collegiate and high school competitions.

Coach Williams, a 1984 and 1988 Olympian, was instrumental in getting members of the 2016 team to utilize the University as a practice site.
