The 88th Texas FFA State Convention concluded last week at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. With nearly 10,000 attendees, the Convention provided an opportunity for the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences to participate as an exhibitor to share information with various stakeholders regarding research and extension activities. The CAHS also sought to foster ongoing exchange among students and agriculture educational professionals via a forum that enables a collective approach to review agricultural issues and education.

The College’s attendance at the Convention had the added benefit of building momentum for its Leadership Development Event (LDE) in the fall and the Career Development Event (CDE) in the spring. In February, over 1,000 FFA students attended the College’s CDE event, which was overseen by Chair Dr. Wash Jones and Assistant Chair, Mr. Horace Hodge. Hodge serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas FFA Association.
