Master of Science in Accounting

The Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program is designed to provide advanced training in accounting to prepare aspiring accounting professionals for careers in public, private and governmental accounting.  This program assists graduates in meeting the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy prerequisites for the Uniform CPA Examination.

Core accounting courses for the MSA program are offered Saturdays at the Prairie View A&M University Northwest Houston Center located near FM 1960 and Tomball Parkway (SH 249) in Houston, Texas.

  • Class meetings for accounting core courses are on alternating Saturdays in Houston at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center
  • Online coursework between class periods
  • Elective courses and BCOM 5203 (Managerial Communications) are offered online, face-to-face and in hybrid format and in the evenings year-round.

Students without a background or undergraduate work in accounting may be required to take some additional courses before enrolling in some graduate level accounting courses.  Coursework and equivalences taken at previous institutions is evaluated on a case-by-case basis upon submission of application materials.  For a list of prerequisite courses and their equivalencies, see: MSA Prerequisites and Equivalencies
