Book Reading Contest

Prairie View A&M University’s College of Business held its 9th annual Dean’s Book Reading Contest on April 22, 2019. The competition was open to undergraduate students in the COB.

This semester, student participants received one of two contest books provided by Dean Munir Quddus, “A World of Three Zeros” by Muhammad Yunus and “The Challenge for Africa” by Wangari Maathai. They completed a minimum 1,500-word count original written book review and a 15 to 30-minute PowerPoint presentation. Bryanna Barnett, Anthony Limbrick Jr., Jordan Davis, and Tiara Johnson were the final four contestants to complete the contest requirements.

Quddus, Dr. Reginald Bell, and Dr. Rahim Quazi have continuously served as judges for the contest since its inception in 2011. Edwina Garcia, Kanesha Jackson, and Gwen St. Julian helped coordinate, organize details, order and disseminate contest books, and create certificates for winners of the contest.

1st Place – Bryanna Barnett was presented an iPad valued at $425.
2nd Place – Anthony Limbrick Jr. was presented a $100 cash prize.
3rd Place – Jordan Davis was presented a $100 cash prize.
4th Place – Tiara Johnson was presented a $100 cash prize.
