The Department of Campus Planning and Space Management is responsible for maintaining current building and room space inventory for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). The Team manages the space inventory for 115 buildings located across the three Prairie View A&M campuses:

  • Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas
  • Northwest Campus in Houston, Texas
  • College of Nursing in Houston, Texas

All public higher education institutions in the state must submit an annual facility inventory report to the THECB to fulfill provisions of the Higher Education Coordinating Act of 1965 as amended (codified as Subtitle B, Chapter 61, Texas Education Code, 1971). The amount, type, and use of physical space are components used to determine each institution’s funding.

This list is also used for the following:

  • To maintain an up-to-date building and room inventory that is required by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • To calculate how much HEAF (Higher Education Assistance Fund) money Prairie View A&M University annually receives and in calculating building replacement cost.
  • Data analysis of the list answers basic questions about space, including how much space there is, what kind of space it is, to whom it is assigned, and how it is being used. Further analysis assesses whether there is sufficient facility resources available in such categories as classrooms, labs, recreational, and administrative support to fulfill the university’s mission.
  • To provide space documentation required of the Texas A&M System Annual Capital Plan.
  • To provide information for internal assessment of space allocations and for use by the Senior Vice President for Business Affairs, the Provost and University Leadership to support the university’s facilities and administrative cost rate in addition to academic and program planning.

Below is the inventory listing provided to THECB in 2020.
