The Texas Tribune will host a free, open-to-the-public lunchtime event — A Conversation with Reps. Senfronia Thompson & James White — at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 31, at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.

Thompson, D-Houston, has represented House District 141 since 1993. She serves as chairwoman of the House Local & Consent Calendars Committee and sits on the Transportation, State & Federal Power & Responsibility and Licensing & Administrative Procedures committees. Thompson is the dean of women legislators, and she has previously chaired the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and Women’s Health Caucus. She is an alumna of Prairie View A&M University.

White, R-Hillister, has represented House District 19 since 2011. He serves as chairman of the House Corrections Committee and sits on the International Trade & Intergovernmental Affairs Committee. Previously, White served as an instructor at the U.S. Infantry School and a professor of government at Angelina College. He is an alumnus of Prairie View A&M University.

The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A session. A light lunch will be provided.
