Terence Finley, MBA, Ph.D., leadership development and organizational excellence officer, has been selected as a 2017-2018 National Association of College and University Business Officers Fellows Program. He will participate in a small cohort of higher education professionals in business and finance in a one-year program designed for aspiring chief business officers of college and universities.

“The one-year program will include learning opportunities with higher education presidents, provosts, and CBOs to deepen participants’ understanding of business management, institutional communications, and the expanding role of the CBO on campus,” Katy McCreary, public relations manager at NACUBO, said. Fellows will also evaluate and enhance their personal leadership skills as they gain a greater understanding of the “core competencies” needed to excel as a Chief Business Officer. “NACUBO Fellows have an extraordinary opportunity to build a strong network of future CBOs from across the country who will be available for advice, support, and cross-pollination of ideas as they move into the CBO role,” said Natalie “Nikki” Krawitz, NACUBO Fellows Program advisor and retired vice president of finance and administration at the University of Missouri System.
Finley said he is honored to represent the University as a 2017-2018 NACUBO Fellow, “Participation in the program will assist me in establishing relationships with a cadre of colleagues from around the higher education spectrum,” said Finley. He believes his new colleagues can serve as sounding boards, think tanks, and institutional resources necessary to move the University to new heights. “To that end, participation in the NACUBO Fellows Program will afford me the opportunity to accelerate the navigation of the CBO learning curve thru an infusion of requisite components and competencies necessary to be effective in the role of Chief Business Officer.”
