Prairie View A&M University has been selected as a finalist in five categories for the 2017 HBCU Awards presented by HBCU Digest. More than 175 nominations from HBCUs were submitted from across the country. Winners will be announced at the seventh annual HBCU Awards ceremony July 14th in Washington D.C.’s Gallup Building.

HBCU Digest is a “national news resource of record for historically black colleges and universities.” They provide news and commentary on HBCUS and can be found online at hbcudigest.com as well as on social media platforms.

  • Best Student Government Association

Awards in Publications:

  • Best Alumni Magazine – 1876 Alumni Magazine

Awards in Athletic Excellence

  • Female Athlete of the Year – Shelby Williams

Awards in Individual Achievement

  • Female Student of the Year – Jeaiza Maria Quinones ‘17
