The Prairie View A&M University Panthers (PVAMU) rack up 634 yards of total offense and defeat North Carolina Central University (NCCU) 40-24 in the 14th annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge at Georgia State Stadium. QB Jalen Morton named MVP after accounting for 331 total yards and 3 TD. This is the 2nd straight win for Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in the Challenge.

Dawonya Tucker rushed for a career-high 267 yards and a touchdown.

PVAMU’s win spoiled first-year head coach Granville Eastman’s debut with NCCU but welcomed Coach Eric Dooley with his first win as the Panther’s Head Coach.

The Panthers’ season record is 1-1 (0-0), with the season opener nailbiting final-second loss to Rice.

Next week the PVAMU Panthers travel to Huntsville, TX to take on the Bearkats of Sam Houston State University in Bowers Stadium with a 6:00 pm CST kick-off.

 

The Panthers start conference play on September 22, 2018, against the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and their 2018 home opener takes place October 13, 2018, against Southern University.
