Five PVAMU Football Players Participate in the HBCU of America Spirit Bowl

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M University will have five football players play in the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl formally known as the HBCU Dream Bowl to be held in Virginia Beach, Va. On Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.

The players will be separated into two teams the Pride and Brave, the players that will be participating on the Brave team from PVAMU are WR Khadarel Hodge, WR Joshua Simmons, OL Shawn Pierce, LB Jalyn Williams, LB Jalan Coleman.

"It means a lot for me to participate in postseason play," said Pierce. "It gives scouts another opportunity to gain exposure, with 20 plus team scouts being there. This gives you a chance to get your draft stock up."

"It is a blessing to be able to participate in this bowl game," Simmons said. "I am going to go up there and play my best. I welcome the opportunity to showcase my talents in front of scouts."

"This is big for the players from HBCU's to have an opportunity to be looked at by scouts," said PVAMU assistant football coach Bubba McDowell. "This pretty much puts more film out there for the players for the post season. As an athlete coming out, you want to get as much out as you can as an athlete just finishing up. It's always good to make postseason play and I am proud of these guys and I wish them much success."

Cutting Edge Sports Management will host the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl, which is building off of the success of the Dream Bowl now entering its sixth year. The HBCU Spirit of America Bowl is scheduled to feature at least 110 of the best players from all HBCU football programs across the country who played in all NCAA Divisions and in the NAIA.

The week has featured professional combines run by scouts from all pro football leagues, two Sports Award Banquets with featured keynote speakers, HBCU band performances; and the first-of-its-kind student athlete career services and job fair.

CESM through Dream Bowl Weekend will give athletes the chance to showcase their talents on a national stage as both all-star games will be broadcast on the American Sports Network with its reach along the Sinclair media network of over 50 million households. The audio feed will air nationally through Tune-in media.
