Prairie View A&M University has partnered with Parchment Send service to make transcripts available online. The new electronic version of your transcript can be sent directly to your email and will launch in May. Since its founding in 2013, Parchment Inc. has assisted with the exchange of 18 million transcripts and other credentials. “Parchment will not only empower our student to take control of their own credentials through online transcripts request,” said Demetric Cambric, executive director for academic technology, “It will also improve the University’s student relationship as we continue to invest in resources that enable the student to navigate through graduation and ultimately to successful employment.”

Parchment is an academic management system that provides current and former students the ability to request, verify and share credentials in a secure setting. This is a simple way to request transcripts to be sent to other schools, potential employers and other entities is an exciting venture for the University. “The best part is students will receive an email notification along the life cycle of the request to know that it has been received, processed and sent,” said Deborah Dungey, registrar, PVAMU Office of the Registrar, “All, in an effort to offer the best customer service possible.”

Current students will be able to access Parchment via PV Place. Former students and alumni will be able to access the Parchment link via the Office of the Registrar’s webpage or the alumni link on the University’s homepage. To order, you will need the email of the recipient. After the order is placed, the recipient of the transcript will receive an email with instructions on how to retrieve the secure document from the transcript ordering site. The electronic transcript will arrive as a PDF and is available for a maximum of three downloads or seven calendars days from the request date. After the date has passed, the download will expire and can no longer be retrieved.

For those who would still like to receive a paper version of their transcript, that option is still available. When ordering, you can select “Paper Transcript Mailed” delivery method or if you are on campus visit the Office of the Registrar to complete a Transcript Request Form. If you are unable to make it to campus the form can be requested via e-mail or fax.

To have a person, other than yourself, retrieve your transcript you must submit a signed letter to the Office of the Registrar stating that person’s full name and your hand signature. If the requested information is missing, the Office of the Registrar cannot release the transcript. Letters can be sent via fax machine at (936) 261-1051, email registrar@pvamu.edu or mail at Office of the Registrar, P.O. Box 519; Mail Stop 1002, Prairie View, Texas 77446.
