The Prairie View A&M University College of Agriculture and Human Sciences will host the 2019 Founders’ Day and Honors Recognition Convocation in the William “Billy” J. Nicks, Sr. Building (Baby Dome) on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 10 a.m. The theme for the occasion is “Growing Ideas, Impacting Lives.”  The observance publicly recognizes students’ academic success achieved during the fall and spring 2018 semesters. The students who will be recognized have excelled in their studies, earning grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

PVAMU Alumnus Ronald L. Walker, II ’83 will serve as keynote speaker. Walker is the Chief Operating Officer at Rasky Partners, one of the largest and most respected independent public relations and public affairs firms in the U.S.  He plays a key role in operations, finances, and strategic growth. Before joining Rasky Partners, he served as Massachusetts’ Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development. Under his leadership as Secretary, the administration made significant improvements in the development of the Commonwealth’s labor force, which administers millions of dollars in workforce training funds. Walker also fostered a focus on regional strategies to address workforce development and economic growth, which resulted in the largest Massachusetts labor force since 1976 and a historic low of the state’s unemployment rate.

The event is free and open to the public. PVAMU students, faculty, and staff members are encouraged to attend Convocation.
